Enjoy the solitude of a cove in your canoe or moored houseboat, catch the fish that lurks just under the water on the rocky point of shoreline, or feel the wind in your face as your sailboat or motor boat skims across the open water of the lake’s large bays.
Don Pedro Lake, when filled to the brim, offers nearly160 miles of shoreline and 13,000 surface acres of water on which to operate your vessel. From vessels that you power yourself (canoes, kayaks), to vessels powered by the wind (sailboats), to a wide variety of motorized vessels (ski and watersport boats, fishing boats, houseboats, personal watercraft etc.) you can certainly find areas of the lake that best suit your type of activity.
Choose from three launch ramps to launch and retrieve your vessel, two off of Bonds Flat Road near Don Pedro Dam (Fleming Meadows and Blue Oaks) or one off of Highway 120/49 near the town of Moccasin (Moccasin Point). All launch ramps are located in developed recreation areas with multiple paved lanes and boarding floats. Restrooms are located along the shoreline in some areas and several floating restrooms are located on the water for boater’s comfort and convenience. Please consult the navigational map to help locate these amenities.
Full service marinas are located along Bonds Flat Road at Fleming Meadows (Lake Don Pedro Marina) and off of Highway 120/49 at Moccasin Point (Moccasin Point Marina). By contacting or visiting Lake Don Pedro Marina or Moccasin Point Marina, visitors can rent a variety of boats and can rent or purchase water sports and fishing equipment.
DON’T MOVE A MUSSEL The Don Pedro Recreation Agency requires that all boaters certify that their boats are cleaned, drained and dry (free of Quagga and Zebra Mussels). Boaters may save time at the entrance station by printing and filling out their Certification form for presentation upon arrival at the lake.
Houseboating is a great way to enjoy the lake at your doorstep. Rental houseboats are available at the marinas located at the lake (visit www.lakedonpedromarina.com or www.moccasinpointmarina.com).
The Don Pedro Recreation Agency permits 257 privately owned houseboats to be kept on Don Pedro Lake. There are currently no plans to expand the number of permits but a permit is transferable to a new owner when an existing permitted houseboat is purchased. Full details regarding the specific rules and standards that are required for houseboats on the lake are available here.
