HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR SR-120/ROBERTS BRIDGE

With Thanksgiving approaching, Caltrans is adjusting the closure hours for the State Route 120 (SR-120)/James E. Roberts Bridge project in anticipation of increased holiday travel. Following is the construction schedule for the week of Sunday, November 20, 2016, through Monday, November 28, 2016. ** The bridge will be closed as scheduled 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday night through Tuesday night (November 20-22). ** The bridge will be open, with one-way traffic control, Wednesday night through Sunday night (November 23-27). ** The bridge will resume its regularly scheduled night closures on Monday night (November 28). The bridge will remain under one-way traffic control into November 2017, as part of the $20.8 million SR-120/Roberts Bridge Project. Workers are replacing the bridge deck, and retrofitting the structure for an additional 40 years of service. Motorists should expect 15 minute delays during one-way traffic control. This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials and construction related issues.  For further information, please visit the project web page at: www.dot.ca.gov/dist10/JamesRobertsBridge/index.htm

The old Don Pedro Dam still exists at Don Pedro Lake. Some 220’ under the water of a full lake, the old Don Pedro Dam is 1.5 miles upstream from the current dam’s location. Completed in 1923, it was, at the time, the world’s largest concrete gravity dam. The lake created by the old dam, with its storage capacity of 289.000 acre feet, was only 14% of the capacity of the current lake.
